About the Obagi Controlled Depth Blue Peel
The Blue Peel uses a low concentration of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) mixed with a specially formulated blue base used to control the depth of penetration. Unlike alpha-hydroxy peels, the Blue Peel allows the depth of the peel, and number of coats applied, to be tailored to a person’s individual skin needs. The peel effectively removes thin surface layers of aged and damaged skin. These dead skin cells are replaced by healthier ones, allowing the skin’s own clarity and tightness to resurface.
The Obagi Controlled Depth Peel can be performed as an in-office procedure or in conjunction with a surgical procedure performed at an outpatient surgical facility. Our nurses and doctors are specialized in performing this intensive peel and it is frequently performed alongside of our LiteLift modified facelift.
The Blue Peel be used on the face, neck, chest, back, hands, arms and legs to significantly improve the appearance and overall health of the skin.
What Does the Procedure Include?
A Controlled Depth Peel takes about 20 minutes, depending on the number of coats necessary. If performed in-office, local anesthesia will be used to keep you comfortable during the treatment. Immediately after the procedure, a bluish tint remains on your skin until it peels off (within 7-10 days). Follow-up appointments are included in the cost.
When Will I See the Result?
Your skin’s appearance will continue to over a period of 4-6 weeks. Your skin will become firmer, clearer, smoother, healthier and more youthful looking. Individuals with severe skin issues will see a dramatic improvement.
Can the Obagi Controlled Depth Peel be Combined with Other Procedures?
Yes, in fact, it can only be combined with surgical facial procedures performed by our surgeons at the Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery. For example, many LiteLift® patients combine their procedure with the Blue Peel for optimal results. The Blue Peel elevates the overall result be improving skin issues not addressed with surgical face procedures.
