What is miraDry?
miraDry is a noninvasive treatment to treat excessive sweating of the underarms. It is FDA-cleared, is done in the comfort of the doctor’s office, and is quick- taking only about one hour to complete. After treatment, you can see immediate and long-term results!
Who is a Candidate?
If you are bothered by underarm sweat and underarm stains on your shirts, hate feeling sticky at the end of the day and are seeking a natural, toxin-free lifestyle, miraDry may be right for you!
The Treatment
At BioSpa, the miraDry treatment is completed in three easy steps. Frist, the treatment area is marked using a special grid and medical marker. Then, the underarms are numbed to help ensure a comfortable treatment. Finally, the special miraDry handpiece is applied to the targeted area to treat the sweat glands. Once the handpiece is activated, you may feel a slight suction as your skin and glands are brought closer to the surface. miraWave™ energy is then delivered to the sweat and odor glands, destroying them. Controlled cooling is applied during this process to protect your skin.
Some patients can see results in as little as on treatment. However, some patients may require more than one to see their desired results.
Is there Downtime?
Downtime is often minimal to none following a miraDry treatment. Most patients can return to their everyday activities, including work, right away. Exercise can often be resumed after several days. Some patients may experience slight discomfort in the treatment area several days after treatment.
Is It Safe to Remove Sweat Glands?
Yes, it is safe to remove your sweat glands in your armpits. Humans are born with around 2 million sweat glands throughout their bodies and the armpits only contain 2% of those glands. Treatment will only decrease sweating in the armpits, and you will continue to sweat normally elsewhere.
