As we age, our dead skin cells do not slough off as easily as when we were younger, which can result in a dull appearance to the skin. Chemical peels are an effective, nonsurgical treatment option to peel away the skin’s top layer to reveal healthy, radiant skin underneath.
Individuals who are looking for a noninvasive solution to sun damage, skin discoloration, an uneven complexion, scarring, or brown spots are often good candidates for chemical peels. Ideal candidates will not have any open wounds or infection in the treatment area and be in good health. A consultation is the best way to determine if this treatment is a good option for you.
At BioSpa, we offer the following chemical peels:
This peel exfoliates dead skin cells, giving skin a quick glow without any peeling or downtime. It is ideal for those who want something more invasive than a facial but cannot have the downtime of peeling.
This peel also exfoliates skin, resulting in a brighter, healthier appearance. Two days post peel the skin starts to shed from the chin up to the forehead, which lasts up to 2-3 days. After this, fresh skin will be revealed.
The strongest of the three SkinMedica peels, it is ideal for those who have had other peels and are now seeing less shedding of dead skin when other chemical peels are performed. Peeling may last up to four days to reveal a glowing complexion.
This is a revolutionary peel that transforms skin into looking younger, healthier and clearer in just one week. Can be used on all skin types. Improves tone, texture, pigmentation, lines/wrinkles, acne and more. Peeling may last for 7-10 days.
This peel option is ideal for correction of fine lines, large pores, uneven pigmentation, scars, and sun damage. It promotes softer, smoother skin. Formulated by Dr. Zein Obagi, these proprietary solutions stimulate the growth of healthy skin cells and quickly shed away damaged skin layers. Dramatic improvements are noticeable after a single treatment, although individual results may vary. A series of three peels spaced out every 3-4 weeks is usually recommended for optimal results. 30-minute treatment time.
ZO® Controlled Depth Blue Peel uses trichloroacetic acid, or TCA 30%, to medically treat skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, fine lines, skin pigmentation disorders, sun damage, and poor skin texture. Doctors Horowitz and Nichter frequently combine the Controlled Depth Blue Peel with their patented LiftLift™ facelift. Both can be done at the same time and allows the patient to go through just one healing process! Pre-conditioning skin with Environ products before treatment and a specific after-care protocol for up to 7 days will be necessary. Only one peel is generally needed, however in severe cases a second peel may be necessary and it’s important to note that individual results will vary. Due to the intense nature of the ZO® Controlled Depth peel, up to two weeks of downtime may be required. 45-minute treatment time. - Use sunscreen to protect your skin.
- Wear sunglasses when outdoors.
Following your chemical peel treatment, your skin will be temporarily more sensitive to the sun, so be sure to wear sunscreen every day. Temporary redness and pinkness may also occur. Depending on the level of your peel, recovery time will differ. For light and medium peels, downtime may be little to none, while deep peels often require more recovery time.
Other treatments options that can be done alone with chemical peels include medical facials, HydraFacial MD, microneedling, Vivace RF microneedling, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, Botox, and fillers.
Your first step towards your chemical peel journey is to schedule a consultation at BioSpa. During your consultation, you can discuss your aesthetic needs and we will create an individualized treatment plan for you.
