In Newport Beach

Restylane® is a popular injectable filler used to reduce visibility of facial lines, wrinkles, folds and volume loss. There are an increasing number of injectable fillers available, and it can be quite confusing to know which one is best for you. We can’t stress enough that your result is dictated not only by the type of filler used, but more importantly, the qualification and experience of the person injecting it. It is important you only be treated at a plastic surgery practice, dermatologist, or medical spa operated by a board-certified plastic surgeon.

What is Restylane®?

Restylane® is an injectable filler made of a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid. Restylane® works immediately to reduce visible facial lines, wrinkles and folds. At our BIOSPA in Newport Beach we use Restylane® to treat the following areas:

  • Nasolabial folds (the line extending from your nose down toward the corner of your mouth)
  • Marionette lines (lines extending from the corners of your mouth downward)
  • Upper lip lines (also referred to as smoker lines)
  • Lower eyelids (tear trough depression/hollowing)

What to expect at your Restylane® appointment at the BIOSPA?

One of expert nurse injectors or board-certified plastic surgeons will meet with you to discuss your concerns and goals. Like other injectable fillers, Restylane® is sold per syringe. How many syringes you need will be determined during your consultation.

Prior to injection, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the area/s being treated to minimize discomfort.

Once the cream has taken affect, your injector will administer the Restylane® with a small needle. Total treatment time varies from patient to patient, but on average you can expect your appointment to last between 45 minutes and 1 hour.

What to expect after your Restylane® treatment

Results are immediate, but expect some redness, swelling, and mild tenderness for a few days following treatment. Symptoms will subside over the next 3-7 days. Bruising is rare, but can occur. In some instances, a follow up treatment to add more filler may be necessary to achieve your desired result.

How long does Restylane® last?

On average Restylane® can last from 3-6 months depending on the area, the amount injected, your metabolism and physical activity. Areas that are less mobile like the lower eyelids will have a longer lasting effect. We recommend having repeat treatments before all of the product has dissipated. You will require less product and you will maintain an optimal result.
