Juvéderm® XC injectable gel is used to replenish areas of the face where facial lines and folds occur, as well as to replenish volume for a more youthful appearance. It is part of the Allergen® family, which also produces Botox®, Juvéderm Voluma® XC, Latisse®, and Skin Medica skin care products.
3 syringes Juvederm Ultra Plus, 1 syringe Volbella, 2 syringes Voluma.
Juvéderm XC is made from a compound that naturally occurs in the body, known as hyaluronic acid, which fills in the space between collagen and elastin fibers of the skin. As the skin ages, the presence of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid is reduced, creating a loss of volume in the skin, thus generating folds and wrinkles.
Juvéderm® XC is the only Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler FDA-approved to last up to one year with optimal treatment, and it was studied with all skin types. The unique manufacturing process uses HYLACROSS™ technology to provide a high concentration of cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid.
Before/After Liquid Facelift: After picture was taken immediately after her liquid facelift with Nurse Carly. She used 3ml Juvederm Voluma® on her cheek bones, 3ml Juvederm UltraPlus® on her laugh lines and 1ml Juvederm Ultra® on her lips and 11's (frown lines between brows). This is a great example of how non-invasive treatments can be used to combat the signs of aging without surgery.

If you have never had a filler before, or you are considering Juvéderm XC for the first time, one of our expert nurse injectors or board-certified plastic surgeons, will meet with you to discuss your concerns and goals. With so many injectable fillers available, they will determine which one is best suited for your specific needs. A Juvéderm XC treatment typically takes 20 minute, however this will vary depending on the number of areas being treated and the amount of product needed for each area.
At our Newport Beach medical spa we use very fine needles when injecting fillers. This helps reduce discomfort during treatment. Juvéderm is formulated with lidocaine (a numbing agent) to minimize patient discomfort, however some people choose to have an additional numbing cream applied prior to injection. We will discuss your preference prior to treatment.
You may experience temporary swelling, mild discomfort/tenderness of the injected area/s, redness, lumps, mild bruising, and possible itching. Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature, and are short lasting.
1 syringe of Juvederm UltraXC was used to add fullness to this patient's upper and lower lip.
Immediate results will be seen and improve over time as the above side effects subside. Results can last up to 1 year with optimal treatment, however every patient is different so this will vary. Over time, the hyaluronic acid slowly dissolves and you will notice the slow re-appearance of fines lines, folds, and volume loss. Touch ups and re-treatment are necessary to maintain results. Less product will be needed if treatment takes place before all of the original product has diminished. We recommend not waiting until you are back to your pre-treatment appearance.
