BOTOX™ COSMETICS NEWPORT BEACH
Enjoy Younger Looking Skin Without Surgery – (949) 347-5656
Botox™ is an injectable medication used to reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, creating a more youthful appearance. Botox temporarily weakens active muscles in the face softening one’s appearance. If problem areas are addressed with Botox early enough, it great alternative to surgery. In fact, plastic surgeons are finding that using Botox early on as a preventative measure, can delay the need for a brow lift or forehead lift. Botox™ treatments offer excellent results with few side effects.
Botox is most commonly used to treat wrinkles in areas such as:
- Frown lines (between the brows; glabella)
- Lips (corners of the mouth and upper lip)
- Neck (banding in the front of the neck)
- Smile lines (crow’s feet, around the outer edges of the eyes)
Botox™ is typically performed at 3-month intervals. Oftentimes, those seeking Botox for the first time with “mature” lines may require two sessions to get good baseline results. The details and specific length of treatment are determined on an individual basis. After the first 2-3 treatments, patients may require touchups that occur less frequently and administer less medication. Our nurse injectors and plastic surgeons advise ongoing, consistent maintenance for best results.
What Is Botox?
Botox is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. The product temporarily blocks the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles; reducing the activity in these muscles thus decreasing the appearance of lines/wrinkles. Botox is manufactured by Allergan. Learn more about Botox here.
What to Expect at Your Botox Appointment
Botox appointments usually takes between 10-20 minutes depending on how many areas are being treated. If this is your first Botox treatment, it may take a little longer, because our nurse injector or one of our plastic surgeons will ensure that you are fully informed about the product, what it does, what to expect, and will also discuss your goals and expectations. A treatment plan will then be discussed and agreed upon prior to beginning the injections.
We use a very tiny needle with our Botox injections, which makes discomfort minimal. You may feel a little pinch in the injection site. Ice can be used to numb the areas before injection, and for those that are a little more nervous, we can always use numbing cream. Most patients don’t require either.
What to Expect After Your Botox Treatment
In the areas you were injected, you may have temporary redness and/or bumps. This will subside in a few hours. You can return to your normal activity immediately after treatment, however we do recommend avoiding exercise for 4-6 hours after your Botox treatment. Unlike fillers, you will not notice immediate results. It can take a few days to start seeing the affects, and up to 30 days for maximum results.
How Long Does Botox Last?
Results generally last 3-4 months. Fine lines and wrinkles will appear slowly and become increasingly noticeable as the product wears off. We recommend coming in for a re-treatment when you begin seeing lines again. Less product will be required. Once all of the Botox has worn off, you will be starting over again, and this will require more units to achieve the full result. If treatment is not continued, the lines will gradually return to the pre-treatment appearance.
