Micro-Needling in NEWPORT BEACH
Patients seeking a non-surgical method to rejuvenate and refresh their facial skin need to look no further than micro-needling. Micro-needling promotes the production of new collagen under the skin. It is commonly used to improve the appearance of acne, scarring, and stretch marks. It can also be used to rejuvenate the skin, as well as improve skin laxity.
Micro-needling has been widely used throughout Europe for decades and can be used on all skin colors and types. The treatment is a good alternative to laser due to their being no risk of burning or discoloration. Micro-needling is performed at our BioSpa in Newport Beach as a “walk-in, walk-out” treatment.

How Does the Mico-Needling Treatment Work?
Micro-needling is also referred to as skin-needling or collagen induction therapy. It is a minimally invasive skin treatment using a small device containing fine needles, which are used to puncture the skin. Each puncture triggers the body to heal these wounds by producing collagen and elastin. This process improves skin texture, scarring, and stretch marks, as well as minimizes pore size.
Our medical staff can adjust the level of penetration depending on the severity of the issue. The level can range from superficial (just below the skin’s surface) to reaching all the way down to the dermis. Superficial treatment is ideal for rejuvenating the skin and minimizing pore size. The mid-level treatment is used for mild scarring, sun damage & pigmentation, minimize pore size, and will improve overall skin texture. The deepest penetration reached the dermis and is used for moderate to severe scarring, acne, stretch marks, and tightening the skin. The appropriate level will be determined during your consultation.
Add on PRP and Radiofrequency
Patients can also add on PRP and radiofrequency to their microneedling treatments to further improve results. PRP, or platelet rich plasma, treatments use your own blood platelets to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin, regenerate tissues, and speed up the skin’s repair process. Radiofrequency energy heats up the deep layers of the skin to similarly produce these benefits. If you are interested in adding on PRP or radiofrequency to your microneedling treatment, please let us know!
Who is a Candidate for Micro-Needling?
The micro-needling treatment is a good option for individuals who don’t want to invest the cost or downtime needed with more intensive laser treatments.
If you have any of the following issues, micro-needling may be right for you:
- Stretch marks
- Large pores
- Uneven skin texture and/or tone on the face, chest, neck
- Melasma & pigmentation
- Upper lip lines (smoker lines)
Micro-needling can be performed on the face, but can be used on the body as well. Skin-needling quickly targets specific areas, however improvement may be subtle compared to other options on the market, and multiple treatments may be needed to obtain optimal results.
How Many Treatments are Needed?
The number of sessions depends on the severity of the skin issue. Three or four treatments may be recommended for mild to moderate acne scarring. Deeper scars, stretch marks, and skin tightening may require six to eight treatments.
We recommend scheduling treatments 10 -14 days apart. Maintenance treatments are encouraged 6 to 12 months following your last appointment in a series.
What to Expect During Your Treatment
A topical anesthetic cream will be applied for approximately 15 minutes to reduce discomfort during the treatment. The average appointment lasts about one hour from start to finish. You will experience some redness and minor swelling. The day after treatment it may look as though you have a sunburn. The severity will depend upon the depth of penetration. These symptoms will subside within 3-5 days post treatment. Our staff will provide you with post-treatment instructions.
